The 2009 Jetta Wagon and Sedan TDI Clean Diesel models are B5 bio-diesel fuel compliant. B5 is 95% petroleum and 5% renewable diesel. This means that it produces 5% less CO2 than 100% petroleum. In fact, VW is the first manufacturer to warranty B5 biodiesel.
By using biodiesel fuel, your current carbon footprint is even less. For every 1% of bioblend added, you decrease your CO2 emissions by 1%. In 2010, the first bio-diesel will be B5. In 2015, B10 will be available, and that will decrease the CO2 emissions by another 10%. The future of diesel is here today.
